THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Congress leaders in Kerala on Wednesday said in a joint press conference that the Congress was of the view that the central agencies were being politically abused by the central government. The leaders were responding to the CPM's allegation that the Congress was having two different stands towards the Enforcement Directorate in Kerala and at the Centre.
KPCC president K Sudhakaran, Leader of the Opposition VD Satheesan, Oommen Chandy, Ramesh Chennithala and UDF convener MM Hassan alleged that the central government was using central agencies to eliminate political opponents and do whatever they wanted.
"The central agencies are making political compromises with the RSS and doing favours for the CPM in the gold smuggling case. In the National Herald case, the Centre is attempting to eliminate the Congress by using the ED. All accounts of Congress are subject to audit. The central government is playing dirty politics by bringing up complaints that have been investigated and rejected at various levels, including by the Election Commission," the leaders said.
