HYDERABAD: Police have registered a case against Congress leader and former MP Renuka Chowdhury who held a cop by his collar during a protest organized by Congress in Hyderabad over the Enforcement Directorate (ED) summons to Rahul Gandhi. The incident took place during the protest in Hyderabad this morning. The video of the incident went viral on social media. Police registered a case against Renuka Chowdhury under Section 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) of the Indian Penal Code.

Renuka Chowdhury was seen engaging in a heated argument with the policeman as she held his collar. Women police personnel then dragged her towards the police van.

However, Renuka Chowdhury explained that she grabbed the collar of the police officer as she was not feeling well and was about to fall down on the floor. She also said that she was ready to apologize to the police if needed. At the same time, she said that the police should apologize to the Congress workers for trying to unnecessarily push them away while they were protesting peacefully.

The protest was part of the 'Chalo Raj Bhavan' march organized by the Congress to protest the ED summons to Rahul Gandhi. The ED is questioning Rahul Gandhi in connection with a money laundering case related to the National Herald-AJL deal.
