​​​​​​MUMBAI: 'Sholay' is one of the biggest hits ever made in Bollywood starring Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra in lead roles. Hema Malini was paired opposite Dharmendra in the film. Although he was married and had two children, Dharmendra had an interest in Hema Malini back then. But she always kept a distance since he was married.

There is a scene in the movie in which he teaches her how to use a gun, which became a hit in theatres. In the scene he hugs Hema Malini. The cast and crew of the film later revealed that the scene had a lot of retakes.

A national media now reports that the mistakes during the shoot were made delibrately. It is alleged that Dharmendra had given Rs 2000 as a compensation to the light boy to delibrately mess up the scene to re-enact it again. It is also reported that Dharmendra used special gestures to communicate with the crew.

Sholay was released in 1975. Five years later, in 1980, Dharmendra married Hema Malini.
