THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The UDF leadership has decided to intensify the agitation by demanding that the central agencies should investigate the serious allegations made by Swapna Suresh against the CM under the supervision of a High Court judge.

The UDF will organize a march on July 2 towards the Secretariat and to the Collectorates by raising this demand. The issue will also be raised in the assembly session starting on the 27th. UDF convener MM Hasan told a news conference that Swapna's statement would have to be taken at face value as long as the Chief Minister was not ready to prove that the allegations made by Swapna are false or take legal action against it.

"Serious allegations have been levelled against the CM. The Chief Minister is running away without taking legal action or responding to the allegations on issues affecting him and his family. Sapna had interacted with the UAE Consulate as an unannounced ambassador of the government. How can one disbelieve the statement of a person who got released from prison after 100 days? If the Chief Minister files a complaint against this and the statement is proved to be false, she can be imprisoned for up to seven years. Then why is he not filing a defamation suit? Earlier, central agencies had stalled the probe into the matter because of the CPM-BJP collusion," Hassan said.

"While the Chief Minister remained silent on the allegations, violence was carried out across the state to create a martyr for protesting on the plane. Attacks were made on Congress offices and the KPCC headquarters. DYFI goons stormed into the residence of the Leader of the Opposition," he added.
