THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Countrywide protests against the Agnipath scheme are continuing for the fourth day in a row. A protest was also staged by candidates in Thiruvananthapuram.
Around 300 candidates marched towards Raj Bhavan in the capital city. ‘Written exams were delayed. Many have crossed the upper age limits due to repeated postponements’, alleged the protestors.
Meantime, amid ongoing protests, the central government has announced a 10 per cent reservation for Agniveers in the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) and the Assam Rifles.
The centre has also announced an age relaxation of three years beyond the prescribed upper age limit for the recruitment. However, the first batch of Agniveers, will get an age relaxation of five years beyond the prescribed upper age limit.
