KOCHI: After receiving a copy of the confidential statement of Swapna Suresh, the accused in the gold smuggling case, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has issued a notice asking her to appear for detailed questioning. Swapna has been asked to appear for questioning at the ED office in Kochi next Wednesday. ED is planning to question Swapna in detail and record her statement.

The court on Monday will consider an application filed by ED seeking two confidential statements given by Swapna Suresh to Customs in two other cases. The ED's move comes in the wake of Swapna Suresh's revelation that Customs had not investigated much of the information provided earlier.

It is believed that Swapna's confidential statement contained new information that was not present in her statement to the ED. The ED is trying to find out more about this in the interrogation.
