THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: State police chief Anil Kant has issued guidelines on the precautions to be taken by the police in the wake of the announcement of a Bharat Bandh by some organizations on Monday as part of the agitation against the Agnipath project. Violence against the public and destruction of public property will be dealt with severely.
Those unleashing violence and those forcibly closing business establishments will be arrested and prosecuted. The entire police force in the state has asked to be on duty full time tomorrow.
District police chiefs will take steps to provide adequate police protection to courts, power board offices, KSRTC and other government offices and institutions. Police will also ensure security for private buses plying service.
The police will picket and patrol important places from Sunday night. Range DIGs and Regional IGs, led by district police chiefs, will coordinate security arrangements. The law and order department has directed the ADGP to take stern action against the perpetrators of violence.
There is a widespread propaganda of observing Bharat Bandh. The police issued the instructions as a warning.
