PATHANAMTHITTA: Charalkunnu native Suja has been carrying her husband Das on her shoulder to reach hospital. Eight years ago, Das, who was a coconut climber, fell from a coconut tree and was paralyzed from waist down. Doctors at the Kottayam Medical College Hospital, who treated Das said that he won't be able to walk. Suja has been carrying her husband on her shoulders since then.

When they built the house, the path was not mentioned in the property agreement. She approached the collectorate several times but a favourable action was not taken.
If a path and wheelchair was allotted, then it will be relief to Suja. An ambulance has been provided by Marthoma Church, Charalkunnu free of cost to take Das to Kottayam Medical college for check up. Their daughter has been married off and son who is a daily wage worker lives with his family in Ranny.
