CHENNAI: An Ola driver has been arrested for beating a passenger to death over a dispute on OTP. The incident happened in Chennai last Sunday. The delay in giving the OTP before boarding the taxi and a verbal dispute between the two regarding this led to the murder.

The dead has been identified as Umendra, working in a software company in Coimbatore. He had come to Chennai with his wife and children to meet his relative. Umendra's wife booked an Ola taxi while returning from a movie on Sunday. When the taxi arrived, there were some doubts regarding the OTP.

The driver asked Umendra and his family to get out of the taxi to clarify the OTP. Following this, a verbal dispute broke out between the two. The driver then threw his mobile phone at Umendra and beat him continuously. Umendra, who fell unconscious following the attack, was taken to a nearby hospital but was declared dead.
