THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Saji Cheriyan's resignation is the first wicket of the second Pinarayi government, said KPCC President K Sudhakaran MP. He also said that the second wicket will fall soon. Sudhakaran also joked that the wicket of the captain, who is accused in the gold smuggling case, will also fall soon. He was responding to the media at his residence in Pettah, Thiruvananthapuram.
'It is doubtful whether Saji Cheriyan resigned from the cabinet on the basis of realizing the mistake he had made. It is unfortunate that Saji Cheriyan was not ready to express regret for his unconstitutional speech even while announcing his resignation. CPM should examine the contradiction in justifying the speech. The minister's resignation is a blow to CPM's arrogance. Saji Cheriyan should truly embrace the sanctity of the Constitution.', said Sudhakaran.
'Saji Cheriyan is also not eligible to continue as an MLA. A legal action on this will be taken after discussion', explained Sudhakaran.
