PALAKKAD: Yet another allegation has been levelled against Thangam Hospital. According to the complaint, Savithri, an elderly woman and native of Pazhambalakode, had died due to side effects of the medicines prescribed from the hospital. The relatives alleged that the woman, who had sought treatment for back pain, was given medicines for cancer.

Savithri had gone to Thangam Hospital to seek treatment for back pain, on February 5 last year. After taking the medicine, her whole body became inflamed and she became seriously ill. Soon after, she was shifted to another hospital. Following which, it was identified that she was prescribed wrong medicines.

After Savithri’s death, the family had lodged a complaint with the police. Even after one year since the complaint, there has been no progress in the investigation, Savithri’s husband Mohanan said, while talking to a private channel. Meanwhile, the hospital authorities had attempted to reach a settlement with the family, he added.
