KOZHIKODE: Elamaram Kareem MP ridiculed K K Rema MLA. Elamaram said the MLA post is a reward for betraying the movement and she should not be too proud of getting it. His remarks were while speaking at the C H Asokan memorial function in Onchiyam. K K Rema responded to this by saying that the stance taken by her against the government in the assembly is provoking the CPM.

Kareem had earlier ridiculed athlete P T Usha's nomination to the Rajya Sabha. His remarks were without mentioning her name. 'Now one from Kerala has been nominated to the Rajya Sabha. She was proving her eligibility for some time now. She proved her eligibility beyond the Asiad qualification.’ This had courted controversy.

K K Rema took the stand of putting the government on the defensive during the discussions on the adjournment motion over the attack on AKG Centre. Rema had asserted that such incidents occur whenever the CPM is in a crisis. She asked to hand over the investigation to central agencies. She criticised saying the SFI should place a plantain tree on the home minister’s chair.
