Nila and Lotus units were registered with CDS by adding 11 more members. 500 three-fold umbrellas were manufactured and sold through CDSs. The umbrellas were quickly sold off due to their low price and good quality. The women were then trained to make five-fold, print and children's umbrellas. About two thousand umbrellas were sold. Their method is to buy an umbrella-making kit, make umbrellas at home and bring them to the market. The aim is to provide extra income to hundreds of families who live by wage labour.
