SRINAGAR: Rescue operations are underway at Amarnath cave in Jammu and Kashmir to find those who went missing following the cloudburst near the shrine. According to reports, at least 16 people were killed. The death toll is likely to go up further.
A total of 48 people have been admitted to the hospital. The cloudburst took place around 5:30 pm, last day. The water-flow had come from above the Amarnath cave, said the Indo-Tibetan police.

The Amarnath pilgrimage, which had been put to a halt due to the pandemic, was resumed on June 30, after a gap of two years. Around 72,000 pilgrims have visited the shrine since then, said the authorities.
