THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Heavy rains are likely to lash the state on Saturday. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted isolated heavy showers in all the districts across Kerala in the next three hours.
Yellow alert has been declared in 11 districts namely Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod. Authorities have warned the fishermen not to venture into the sea.
The heavy rains are due to a low pressure area extending from the Gujarat coast to the Karnataka coast and a cyclonic vortex near the Odisha-Andhra Pradesh coast. Strong waves are also likely in the region.
