NEW DELHI: The crises created by former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma’s derogatory remarks about the Prophet have not yet come to an end. Following the incident, India has been facing widespread cyber-attacks. According to the crime branch of Ahmedabad police, hackers from Malaysia and Indonesia have reportedly waged a cyber-war against India over Sharma’s remarks.

Hacker groups Dragon force Malaysia and Hacktivist Indonesia have initiated cyber-attacks and appealed to Muslim hackers from across the world to launch cyber-attacks on India, said the crime branch. Cyber-crime officials have written to the Malaysian and Indonesian governments and to Interpol asking to issue lookout notice against the groups.

Thousands of websites, including those of Thane police, Andhra Pradesh police and a news channel in Assam, have been hacked. The news channel had gone dark amid a live broadcast and a Pak flag appeared with the text “Respect The Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad” on the lower band of the channel.
