THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The BJP has begun intensifying its efforts to make gains in South India, including Kerala, in the Lok Sabha elections to be held after two years. As part of this, Union External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will arrive in Thiruvananthapuram today.
In Kerala, party involvement will be strengthened in six constituencies namely Thiruvananthapuram, Attingal, Pathanamthitta, Mavelikara, Thrissur and Palakkad in Kerala. These districts have been divided into two clusters. Union Ministers have been given charge of the clusters. S Jaishankar is in charge of the Thiruvananthapuram, Attingal and Pathanamthitta cluster. Union Ministers Shobha Karandlaje and V. Muraleedharan have joint charges. Union Minister Bhagwanth Khuba, who is in charge of the Palakkad cluster, reached Palakkad yesterday. Union Minister Ashwini Kumar Choubey is the co-in charge.
BJP's South India operation follows the directions of the national executive meeting in Hyderabad. Although the Lok Sabha elections are in April 2024, the party leadership aims to strengthen the foundation by making preparations now.
Jaishankar to attend 22 meetings
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will be in Thiruvananthapuram for three days. He will attend 22 meetings in the capital city. He will hold meetings with corporation councillors, mandalam presidents, general secretaries and the district election core committee. The Union Minister also has the task of educating the people about the welfare schemes and benefits of the central government.
Prominent leaders of Kerala will help the central leaders. Even after the Union Ministers leave, the work will continue under their supervision.
