NEW DELHI: Will the whole country ban petrol one day like note ban? Union Minister Nitin Gadkari announced with great confidence that India will say goodbye to petrol after five years at an event held in Mumbai. The minister believed that with the widespread use of green fuel, there will be no need to use petrol in vehicles in the country after five years. The revolutionary announcement was made by Nitin Gadkari when he was conferred an honorary degree of Doctor of Science by Dr Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth.
Gadkari also shared the idea that in the future, farmers should become not only food providers but also energy providers. Farmers cannot change their future by just planting crops, but must also learn useful techniques. The production of green hydrogen, ethanol, and other green fuels will reduce the use of petrol. The minister said that green hydrogen can be sold at Rs 70 per kg and can be separated from deep well water.
‘With full confidence, I want to say that after five years petrol will disappear from the country. Your cars and scooters will either run on green hydrogen, ethanol flex fuel, CNG, or LNG,' he said. This not only reduces the cost of running vehicles but also protects the environment. Gadkari appealed to agricultural researchers and experts to increase agricultural growth from 12 to 20 percent in the next five years.
