KOLKATA: Trinamool MLA Idris Ali said Prime Minister Narendra Modi will have the same fate as that of Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa. The people's protest in Sri Lanka, which is in its worst economic crisis, crossed the limits the other day. Gotabaya Rajapakse had to flee his official residence on Saturday after protesters stormed the building demanding his resignation. The MLA said Modi will also face the same situation.

Ali's made the remarks after West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was not invited to the inauguration ceremony of Sealdah Metro Station in Kolkata. Union Minister Smriti Irani will inaugurate the project tomorrow at 11:00 am. Ali said it was unfair not to invite Mamata Banerjee and it was a project she started when she was the railway minister.

The Trinamool Congress is dissatisfied that dignitaries from the state government were not invited to the inauguration ceremony. The Trinamool Congress responded that the central government is playing divisive politics.

Earlier, Mamata Banerjee was excluded from the official program presided over by Home Minister Amit Shah at the Victoria Memorial. Meantime, the BJP retorted that the Trinamool Congress was the first to start the practice of not inviting BJP MLAs and MPs to state government events.
