NEW DELHI: Hints are that Congress leader Kuldeep Bishnoi, a two-time member of the Lok Sabha and presently a member of the Haryana assembly, is all set to leave the party. Bishnoi reached Delhi and held a meeting with BJP National President J P Nadda and Home Minister Amit Shah. The Congress national leadership was estranged from Kuldeep Bishnoi after the incident in which he voted for BJP's candidate without voting for Congress candidate Ajay Maken in the Rajya Sabha elections. Ajay Maken was defeated after Kuldeep did not vote.
Kuldeep, who was a special invitee in the Congress Working Committee, was removed from the party posts following this incident. The information about joining the BJP has not yet come out officially, but there will be an announcement soon. In 1998, Kuldeep became a member of the Legislative Assembly for the first time from Adampur. He later became a member of the Lok Sabha in 2004 and 2011. In 2007, he formed his own party, Haryana Janhit Congress. However, in 2016, after meeting Rahul Gandhi, the party merged with the Congress. After that, he joined the Congress Working Committee as an invitee and now has left the party.
