THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Heavy rain is likely to lash Kerala today. Yellow alert has been sounded in 12 districts except Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam. Fishermen have also been advised not to venture into the sea as there is a possibility of severe storms.

Monsoon winds intensify by the low pressure over south Odisha and the low pressure area extending from Gujarat coast to Karnataka coast.

A holiday has been declared for schools in Kasaragod and Wayanad as rain is battering the places. District Collector Bhandari Swagat Ranveer Chand announced that Anganwadis and all schools will remain closed today in Kasaragod. Holidays are not applicable to colleges. The district collector also informed that the holiday is not applicable to the pre-announced SSLC SAY exams.
