NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the National Emblem cast on the roof of the new parliament building on Monday. The 6.5m high and 4.34m wide bronze structure weighs nearly 9,500 kilograms.

The bronze emblem has been built in about nine months. Leaders, including Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla and Minister of Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri, attended the ceremony. The prime minister also interacted with the workers involved in the construction works.

The new parliament building is being constructed in the shape of a pentagon. The construction, which began in 2021, is planned to be completed by around the winter session, this year.
