THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The KSRTC's 'Budget tour services' to major tourist destinations has become a hit but they are unable to run more services due to inavailability of buses. The demand is high on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. However, buses cannot be given for this purpose as they have to run regular services on days other than Sunday.

Apart from services to tourist centres in the state, Kollam-Velankanni service is the only interstate service. There is a demand for services to Bengaluru, Mysore, Ooty, Kodaikanal and Goa, but the lack of buses is the issue. Interstate services require permissions and efforts are underway for that. Budget tour services has made a good profit for KSRTC within a short period of time.

At present, there are about 900 trips from 51 depots in the state to major tourist destinations. More details about the service is available on the verified official Facebook page of KSRTC at https://www.facebook.com/KeralaStateRoadTransportCorporation.
