THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Online gambling games will encourage people to continue games by giving loans. There are over 400 apps that offers loans at exorbitant interest. Most of the people who got into debt by playing online games took loans from apps. Payment will be received as soon as Aadhaar and KYC details are provided. Even if they say 1.5 percent interest, they charge huge daily interest. A processing fee of 30% is charged for the loan.

If people fails to pay loan, then hooliganism of loan providers is seen.They will collect all the numbers and pictures saved on the phone. If the loan is not repaid immediately with interest, they will threaten to send a message to everyone on the contact list that the person is a financial scammer. Even if the repayment is completed, threatening messages will be sent saying that the payment was made incorrectly and the amount is yet to be paid. Many people commit suicide because they cannot bear the pressure.

Crime Branch investigation is progressing in 63 complaints of people who were trapped by taking loans through apps. The recommendation to ban online gambling is under government's consideration.
