THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Vigilance implements new ways to detect corruption in government departments, offices and contract works. Vigilance chief Manoj Abraham suggested using hidden cameras, advanced facilities that can secretly record video and audio.

Such devices that can be attached to the body or clothing can be purchased in units. Undercover investigation and data gathering should be given top importance. At least two such operations should be conducted in each unit within six months. Frequent lightning inspections should be conducted in areas where corruption is prevalent and the details should be collected in secret and then forwarded to the vigilance headquarters. External interference should not be allowed in vigilance enquiries. File adalat should be conducted once in three months. 50 percent of the pending files should be cleared by September 15, instructed the Vigilance chief.

Manoj Abraham suggested that vigilance officers should be given training and a meeting of Vigilance officers of all departments should be called.
