THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Heavy rains continue to lash the state on Friday. Yellow alert has been issued in six districts namely Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod. The people residing in hilly and coastal areas should remain vigilant, said the meteorological department.
The authorities have warned the fishermen not to venture into the sea. Yellow alert has been issued in districts namely Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod on Saturday. Whereas, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod districts are on yellow alert on Sunday too.
In the wake of the ongoing rains, a holiday has been declared for educational institutions in various parts of the state. In Wayanad, the district collector has declared a holiday for all the educational institutions, including professional colleges. However, there will be no changes in pre-scheduled examinations.
A holiday has also been declared for the educational institutions in Idukki Devikulam taluk and Bison Valley-Chinnakanal. Holidays have also been announced for educational institutions in Nilambur education sub district of Malappuram district.
