KOCHI: The crime branch has requested the trial court to investigate into the revelations made by former jail DGP Sreelekha, in connection with the actress assault case. However, the court asked, what was the significance of the revelation. The crime branch, which informed the high court about the progress of the investigation, said that an interrogation was necessary to clarify the contradictions in Sreelekha’s revelations.

Earlier, the crime branch had informed the high court that they have sought three weeks' time for further investigation as it was found that the hash value of the memory card, a crucial piece of evidence in the case, had changed. The high court has permitted the crime branch to submit a cloned copy and a mirror image of the memory card to be submitted in the trial court in a sealed envelope. Meantime, the court on Monday shall consider the plea to extend the time limit in the case. The government has informed the high court that they are ready to submit a further investigation report of the case. Meanwhile, Thrissur rural police have begun the primary investigation into a complaint lodged against Sreelekha. The case will be heard again by the trial court on Saturday.
