KOLLAM: A mistake has been found in the route map of the monkeypox-infected patient released by the DMO office. In the first route map released by the Kollam DMO office, it was said that the 35-year-old man suffering from the disease was undergoing treatment at the Paripally Medical College. However, the patient, a native of Kollam, is undergoing treatment at Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital.
The Kollam native, who returned from Abu Dhabi on July 12, is the first monkeypox patient in the country. He first went to a private hospital in Kollam after experiencing symptoms of monkeypox. It was said in the first route map that the infected man went to Paripally Medical College and sent his samples for test. However, Kollam District Collector informed in a press conference that this information was wrong.
Kollam DMO Bindu Mohan said in a press conference that they did not know about the patient being taken to Paripally Medical College. When queried why the patient was taken to the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College in a taxi and not in n ambulance, the DMO said that the private hospital did not inform them about that. However, the authorities of the private hospital said that they had clearly informed the matter to the DMO office and received the guidelines from the Deputy DMO.
Meanwhile, the health officials are yet to find the drivers of the autorickshaw that took the infected person to the private hospital in Kollam and the taxi that took him to Thiruvananthapuram Medical College.
