IDUKKI: Water level in Mullaperiyar dam is rising. 4021 cubic feet of water flows into the dam per second. At present, the water level in the dam has risen to 135.40 feet. Tamil Nadu has warned Kerala that the water level will reach 136 feet soon. According to the rule curve, the maximum water storage in the dam is 136.30 feet till July 19. Tamil Nadu is currently taking 1867 cubic feet of water from the dam.
A control room has been opened at the Manjumala village office due to rising water level in the dam. As the rain continues, the spillway shutter will be opened once the water level reaches the upper rule level. The people residing on the sides of Periyar should be vigilant. Meanwhile, the authorities informed that there is no need to worry.
