ALAPPUZHA: The efforts of the police to settle the anti-Constitution remark case against ex-minister Saji Cheriyan have backfired. After the police explained that the video of Saji Cheriyan's speech was not available, BJP leader Sandeep Vachaspati shared the full length video of the speech on Facebook.

The video posted by Sandeep Vachaspati is 2 hours, 28 minutes and 59 seconds long. The police was searching for this video for the last 10 days. Sandeep Vachaspathi shared the video with the caption, 'Submitting this video to the police who are about to stop investigation as the speech is not available'.

The statements of ten people, including the CPM Mallapally area secretary were recorded in the case filed against Saji Cheriyan on controversial speech. The statements of Binu Varghese, Area secretary and Organizing Committee Chairman, and Convener K Ramesh were recorded. The statements of Ramesh Chandran and others were taken. Police had issued notices to 20 people to appear today. The notice also directed to produce visuals of more than two hours.

But the explanation given by others including the Area Secretary is that they do not have the visuals. It has been said that the video uploaded on Facebook was removed as it became controversial. The videographer who recorded it also replied the same. The police will approach the cyber forensics department to recover the deleted video from the Facebook account.

Saji Cheriyan's controversial speech, which led to his resignation, took place in an event organized by the CPM Mallapally Area Committee.
