PALA: V J Sebastian, who passed MA when he was 18-years old, started teaching at St Thomas College, Pala at that young age. 'Nariveli Sir', as he was called by students still continues to teach even at the age of 73. He is completing 55 years in teaching with the record of being the youngest college teacher in India. But he is currently teaching in Amal Jyothi Engineering College, Kanjirapally.
He became an English teacher in St. Thomas College in 1967. After retiring in 2004, he later became the principal of Labour India School.
Sebastian was only 18-years old, when he passed MA English as part of the first batch of St Thomas College during 1965-67. He went to the college to check his exam results and was appointed as a lecturer by then Principal. In PG classes, students were older than the teacher. Meanwhile, he got Ph.D. Dr. Nariveli retired four to five years after the retirement of many of his students. He has authored many books including English reviews. Also writes articles in several periodicals.
He joined school at the age of three. But was soon promoted to standard three as he answered to the questions raised by the teacher in standard 3. He was six years old when he joined St. John UP School in Kozhuvanal in the sixth standard.
He graduated from St. Anthony's High School, Mutholi at the age of 12 in the Sixth Form, which is equivalent to today's Plus Two. It is a one year course. He later passed BA and MA from St Thomas college, Pala.
His wife Thresyamma Jacob, was a physics lecturer at Alphonsa college, Pala. The couple had two sons Bipin and Bobby and both of them are settled abroad.
