OREGON: No medal for Malayalee player Murali Sreeshankar in the World Athletic Championship long jump. He finished seventh in a 12-athlete field in the men’s long jump final at the World Athletics Championships. His best effort was a 7.96 meter jump. Three of the six attempts were fouled.
His best effort was a 7.96 meter jump in his first attempt. The second and third jumps were fouled. Jumped 7.89 meters in his fourth attempt. Failed the fifth attempt and cleared 7.83 meters in his sixth attempt. Sreeshankar is the first Indian male athlete to reach the final in the long jump at the World Athletics Meet.
China's Jiannan Wang won the gold with an effort of 8.36m. In the final attempt, Wang overcame Greece's Miltiadis Tentoglou to win the gold. Miltiadis Tentoglou won the silver medal with a jump of 8.32 m and Simon Ehammer of Switzerland won the bronze with a jump of 8.16m.
