THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Monday said that a strict surveillance system has been introduced in the state in collaboration with the central government to prevent human trafficking.
"The government is taking this matter very seriously. A State Cell is working for this. Crime Branch IG is the nodal officer of this State Cell. Anti-human trafficking units have also been formed in all police districts under the supervision of the Nodal Officer. Prompt action is taken based on confidential information regarding human trafficking through coastal areas and airports. The services of the cyber wing of the police are also being utilized to prevent recruitment scams through social media," the CM said.
"Emigration clearance is currently not required for those with 10th standard education qualification to go abroad for domestic work. But those who do not have this qualification need clearance to do domestic work. The method of illegal recruitment agencies is to take them abroad on visiting visas and from there to other countries. Such exploitation can be effectively prevented only if the central government decides to shift all types of foreign recruitment to the e-migrate system, This system will also be helpful in gathering information of those in foreign countries," he said.
