KOTTAYAM: Action has been recommended against a policewoman, who shared the post of Popular Front state secretary C A Rauf regarding the bail of the Popular Front activists, who were remanded in connection with the case of a child chanting hate slogans in Alappuzha. The policewoman has been identified as Ramla Ismail, assistant sub inspector of Kanjirapally police station. District police chief K Karthik has recommended the DIG to take departmental action against Ramla Ismail. The action is based on the investigation report submitted by Kanjirapally DySP.

Ramla shared Rauf’s post, against police and the court procedures regarding the arrest in connection with the hate slogan case, on July 5. She deleted it later. The investigation was directed by district police chief K Karthik, following the special branch report. The report, suggesting the policewoman’s lapse, was submitted after rejecting the explanation that it was her husband who shared the post. Meantime, BJP central zone president N Hari alleged that the investigation was launched only after a complaint was lodged.

“The department level investigation was recommended against the policewoman on the basis of the Kanjirapally DySP’s report”, said district police chief K Karthik. “The BJP had raised the issue about the presence of Popular Front in the police, several years back. When action was taken against a police officer for leaking the information of RSS leaders in Thodupuzha, they said that it was an isolated incident. There is a fire force officer among those arrested in the Palakkad Sreenivasan murder case. Ramla should be dismissed”, said N Hari, BJP central zone president.
