DARBHANGA: A youth, who watched a video of former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma, was stabbed by a four-member gang in Sitamarhi, Bihar. The victim has been identified as Ankit Jha of Bahera village. The police have arrested two of the accused, while two others are absconding.
In his statement, Ankit claimed that he was attacked while watching Nupur Sharma’s video on his phone at a pan shop in Bahera. At the time, the four youths got furious and misbehaved with him. They abused him and allegedly stabbed six times in the waist with a knife. There are numerous stab wounds on Ankit’s body. The incident was informed to the police, but they filed an FIR only after Sharma’ name was removed from the complaint copy, alleged Ankit’s father. Ankit is currently undergoing treatment in a hospital at Darbhanga.
However, according to the police, the attack was motivated by personal enmity. Two friends were eating pan at the pan shop when an argument broke out between them over cannabis that was also sold at the shop. This led to the stabbing, said the police.
Numerous issues had occurred in the name of Nupur Sharma, including the Udaipur killing, in the country. The Supreme Court had earlier ruled that Nupur Sharma was the reason for such incidents and she should apologise to the country.
