NEW DELHI: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan ordered an immediate investigation in the primitive action of stripping girls who appeared for the NEET exam in Ayoor Marthoma College, after a beep sound was heard in the metal detector. The union minister has sought a report from additional secretary (education). The minister intervened after the MPs from Kerala issued a notice for an adjournment motion.

However, the National Testing Agency explained that no one has filed a complaint during the exam or after the incident. Stripping girls in the name of checking is not permissible. The authorities also clarified that such steps were not mentioned in NTA’s dress code. In the meanwhile, more female students came forward with complaints for stripping them. Following this, the police informed that they will examine the CCTV visuals of the college. The police also said that an identification parade will be held to find the accused. The identification parade is being held to get a clarity on the person who stripped the girl and misbehaved with her.

Meantime, national child rights commission has taken a suo moto case in the incident. The state has objected to the central government in the incident. Higher Education Minister R Bindu has sent a letter to the central government in this regard. She has sought strict action in the matter and has requested not to repeat the incident.
