NEW DELHI: The interrogation of interim Congress President Sonia Gandhi in connection with the National Herald case has come to an end. The leader was questioned for three hours by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
Sonia Gandhi, along with her daughter Priyanka Gandhi, had arrived at the ED office from the Congress headquarters by around 12 noon. She was accompanied by party MPs, working committee members, chief ministers and those in-charge of states. The police have arrested those, including MPs, who staged protests in front of the office. When Sonia appeared before the ED, the Congress also organized strong protests in and outside the party headquarters.
Earlier, Sonia Gandhi was served notice by the ED twice. However, she requested to delay the interrogation citing health issues. When the first notice was issued, Sonia was tested Covid positive. Following which, a second notice was issued on June 23. During the time, she was undertaking rest due to lung infection. However, she informed that she will appear for questioning after four weeks. Accordingly, another notice was issued for July 21.
