NDA's Draupadi Murmu has become the first tribal woman in the country to become the President. Murmu, the former Governor of Jharkhand, faced various criticisms from the opposition parties soon after she was named the Presidential candidate of the NDA. 1. Draupadi Murmu faced many tragedies in her personal life. She lost her mother and brother in 2009.

2. In 2009, her son Laxman Murmu died under mysterious circumstances. Her husband Shyam Charan Murmu died of a heart attack in 2014.

3. In 2012, her second son died in a car accident.

4. Murmu's daughter Itishree Murmu is working in a bank. Itishree is married to rugby player Ganesh Hembram.

5. Before starting her political career, Draupadi Murmu worked as a teacher at the Sri Aurobindo Integral Education and Research Center in Rairangpur, Odisha.
