THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Payyanur comrades have issued a death threat letter against RMP leader and Vadakara MLA K K Rema. If you speak against the chief minister, then we won’t mind losing governance. We will take a decision, stated the letter. The letter was sent to the MLA hostel address. Rema has lodged a complaint with the DGP along with evidence.
Lately, CPM member and former minister M M Mani’s insulting remarks against Rema had stoked a controversy. “Here a great woman spoke against the government. That woman became a widow and that's her fate. None of us are responsible for it," Mani had said in the assembly. Despite the opposition staging huge protests inside the house demanding to withdraw the remarks, Mani remained firm on his stance. Finally, he withdrew the statement only after the speaker's ruling. “Mani’s remark is inappropriate and unacceptable. I hope that Mani will withdraw the inappropriate usage”, said the speaker. With this, Mani said that as a communist, he should not have said it and withdrew his statement.
Earlier, CPM central committee member Elamaram Kareem had also criticized Rema saying that her MLA post was a gift for betraying the movement and she should not be too proud of it. She has been challenging the Communist Party by working with the class enemies, Kareem said at a function in Onchiyam.
