THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The complainant woman has come up with more revelations against writer Civic Chandran. On the Facebook page 'Women Against Sexual Harassment, the woman clarifies details of the sexual assault on her. "He tried to grab my hand and hold me close to his body", she said. The woman also alleged that he tried to force her to lay down and tried to rub his fingers on her body. The young woman asks how people are justifying a man like Civic who did this to a person younger than his daughter.
The woman's note
I first saw Civic Chandran at a friendly gathering. The people in that group were all my acquaintances and friends. That's why some of us decided to drink after reading poetry and discussing. After that we left the house where we were all gathered and walked to the nearby sea shore. That's when Civic, who had been talking respectfully till then, grabbed my hand and tried to hold me close to his body. I pushed him away. I tried to keep a distance from him as much as possible.
When they reached the beach, everyone was sitting and talking. I sat on a ledge next to the sea. At this time, Civic came next to her and tried to hold her in her lap. Meanwhile, he tried to run his hand through the body. It still makes me uncomfortable when I remember it. I was in a terrible state of shame and fear. Others are looking at me. I feel that maybe if he had continued that act they would have intervened. A poetess who was with me held me close and expressed her anger towards him. Then I thought not to create a problem in a place with so many people? But after coming back from the sea I had to face his worst behaviour even at night. While eating, he tried to feed me. I even took away the food that I was eating. The experience that I faced from Civic Chandran, who is known under the banner of cultural worker, poet and artist, has created a great hatred in me. I regret not being able to react properly at the time. If I don't say it on this occasion, it will put me in more mental trouble than what I have experienced from him. Hence I'm writing this. It's hard to hear people justifying him who treating me, who is younger than his daughter, this way. How can one justify his actions of trying to assault a woman who had no interest in him?
