THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A policeman, who refused to bathe the pet dog of Telecommunications SP Navneet Sharma and clean up the faeces of the dog, was suspended by the SP on charges of trespassing into his house. After realizing that the SP's action was wrong, IG Anoop Kuruvila John cancelled the order on the same day and took the policeman back.

It was Civil Police Officer S.S. Akash who went through the bad experience. He was suspended and taken back on July 21. Akash was appointed in Telecommunications from the Thiruvananthapuram City Police. He was the personal security officer (gunman) of SP.

It was SP's non-Malayali employee who called Akash to SP's residence last Sunday and asked him to bathe the dogs and clean up the dog poop. However, Akash refused to do it. Following this, the SP asked an SI at the telecommunications headquarters to file a special report against Akash.

Thus a document was created stating that the Sub-Inspector of Telecommunication Headquarters had reported that Akash had entered the quarters without permission when no one else was present and operated the electronic devices in the hall. Akash was suspended after being found to have committed a serious breach of discipline and official misconduct. A departmental inquiry was also ordered.

The leaders of the police association brought this matter to the attention of the DGP. The DGP then instructed the AIG of the police headquarters to withdraw the suspension and transfer Akash to the parent unit, Thiruvananthapuram City Police.

Meanwhile, SP Navneet denied the allegation that the policeman was suspended for refusing to bathe the dog.
