THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government has decided to organize elaborate programs in the state as part of the 75th Independence Day celebrations. The decision for grand celebrations was taken in a meeting of District Collectors called by the Chief Minister.
On the occasion of Independence Day, the national flag will be hoisted at all homes, educational institutions, government and semi-government institutions in the state. The national flag will be made by Kudumbashree. Kudumbashree has started production of flags. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has instructed the District Collectors to utilize the khadi and handloom sectors in flag production.
The Chief Minister has instructed to hoist the national flag at maximum number of places. The proposal is to hoist the national flag from August 13 to 15. The flag hoisted on August 13 can be maintained till the 15th. At this time there is no need to lower the flag at night. The government has also informed that the flag code has been changed for this purpose. The Chief Minister also directed that flags should be delivered to schools and institutions by August 12.
School students will be given first priority in the distribution of flags. Local self-government bodies should make necessary arrangements for hoisting the flag in houses where there are no students.
It is suggested that after hoisting the flag, a short-distance procession should be held in the schools and all the employees of the government institutions should come to the office and participate in the flag hoisting ceremony. They can also organize a procession.
