KUNNAMKULAM: A youth, who sexually assaulted his wife brutally for having an affair with his relative, has been arrested. The relative was also arrested following the woman’s complaint. The 31-year-old youth, who ran a business in Chennai, had been living with his wife and children. His 47-year-old relative, who was abroad, had returned home three months ago. The husband suspected that he continued his previous relationship with his wife. The youth claimed to have received pictures of the two together.

Following which, he sexually assaulted his wife, captured the visuals on a mobile phone and sent the footage to his relative. According to the woman’s statement, she was also stabbed with a beer bottle in her private parts. The police came to know about the incident after the woman, who had returned to the state three days back, sought treatment at a private hospital in Kunnamkulam. There were bite and scratch marks on her body. The injuries are not severe, said the hospital authorities.

The police have taken a case against the relative on the woman’s complaint of physical assault. He was attempting to flee abroad. The husband has been booked under IT Act for sexually assaulting his wife and circulating her naked visuals. The equipment used to capture the footage and a USB pen drive has been taken into custody by the police. The woman said in her statement that she did not disclose the information about the harassment to anyone out of fear.

The couple has two children. The woman’s health condition is stable, said the police. Both of the accused were produced in the court. The case was investigated by Kunnamkulam SHO U K Shajahan, SI Shakir Ahmed, Gopinathan, E K Hamd, Shanimon, Ravikumar, Rathish Kumar and Nibu Napoleon.
