Former education minister Abdu Rabb has mocked the appointment of Sriram Venkitaraman IAS, accused in the murder of journalist K M Basheer, as the district collector of Alappuzha. “He has been deported to Alappuzha, 150 kilometres away from Thiruvananthapuram; What a big punishment!”, he wrote on social media.

Abdu Rabb expressed his response through a Facebook post, sharing a note posted by former minister M M Mani, during the death of Basheer. In his note, Mani had said that Sriram will not be given any privilege of being an IAS officer.
