NEW DELHI: An Indian doctor has brought a 13-year-old girl from Pakistan’s Sindh province, who had been suffering from a rare disease, back to life. Rajagopalan Krishnan, a doctor in Delhi, has successfully performed surgery on the girl’s neck, without even charging a single penny.

While she was just 10-months-old, Afsheen Gul had accidently slipped from her sister’s arms and was severely injured. Her left neck bent at 90 degrees making her childhood miserable.

Afsheen had to undergo four major surgeries, including a six-hour long one in February. She would not have survived long without the appropriate treatment, said Dr Rajagopalan Krishnan, after the successful completion of the surgery.

“She is a little weak. She can’t go to school yet. It’ll get better with time”, Krishnan added. “He saved her life. For us, he is an angel," said Afsheen's brother Yaqoob Kumbar.
