PATHANAPURAM: Transport Commissioner has suspended Pathanapuram Motor Vehicle Inspector AS Vinodkumar for allegedly misbehaving with a girl during the driving test. Pathanapuram police also started an investigation into the girl's complaint.

The alleged incident took place on July 19. The girl alleged that Vinodkumar misbehaved with her when the test vehicle reached a deserted place on Enath Road in Pathanapuram. The girl lodged a complaint with the Chief Minister, local MLA KB Ganesh Kumar and the Pathanapuram police last Saturday.

Based on the complaint handed over from the Chief Minister's office, the Transport Commissioner appointed a team led by Kollam Enforcement RTO for investigation. The team reached the girl's house on Sunday and recorded her statement. Following this, a report was submitted. Vinodkumar was suspended yesterday morning.

The Pathanapuram police also recorded the statement of the girl. Pathanapuram SHO Jayakrishnan said that the police will also record statements of others who appeared for the driving test on the day mentioned in the complaint.

Conspiracy behind complaint?
Meanwhile, Kerala Motor Vehicle Department Gazetted Officers Association State President C. Shyam said that there was a conspiracy behind the complaint against Vinodkumar. "A group of tipper lorry owners had a grudge against Vinodkumar for nabbing an overloaded tipper. The owner of a fined tipper had reached the office a week ago regarding the test of a bike. This youth was upset with Vinodkumar as the officer pointed out some legal matters that day. The girl who filed the complaint is the relative of this youth. There is also a mystery surrounding handing over of the complaint to the MLA who had come out against the Motor Vehicle Department in connection with the seizure of the tipper," Shyam said.
