NEW DELHI: Widespread protests were led by Congress MPs against the questioning of Sonia Gandhi by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The police have arrested Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi after he sat in protest against the ED action.
The Congress leader was arrested amid a protest march from the parliament house to Vijay Chowk. He was detained after a 30 minutes-long protest. “India is a police state, Modi is a king”, Rahul Gandhi told the media before being detained.
Meantime, conflicts erupted amid the Congress march towards the Rashtrapati Bhavan. Following which, there was a tussle between the police and the parliamentarians. Several leaders namely, K C Venugopal, Mallikarjun Kharge, Benny Behanan, V K Sreekandan, Anto Antony, M K Raghavan, Dean Kuriakose, Hibi Eden and T N Prathapan were also taken into police custody.
Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi was questioned by the ED in connection with the National Herald case. She had arrived at the ED office along with Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, on Tuesday.
