THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Artist DaVinci Suresh has created a portrait of Kargil martyr and Paramveer Chakra winner Captain Vikram Batra and won the universal world record for the largest underwater portrait. The portrait was made at Pangod Military Station as part of Kargil Vijay Diwas celebrations. The Army organised the event in collaboration with Bond Water Sports Pvt Ltd's scuba team to commemorate Kargil Vijay Diwas.
The Universal Record Forum authorities handed over the World Record Certificate at the event. The 1500-square foot underwater portrait created using tiles took 8 hours to complete. The Pangod Military Station Commander, who was the chief guest, handed over the memento to Artist DaVinci Suresh and the team of Bond Water Sports Pvt. A military band display was also organized as part of the program.
Commander of Pangod Military Station laid wreaths and paid tributes to the Kargil war heroes at the Pangod War Memorial in a function held this morning to mark Kargil Vijay Diwas. Kargil Vijay Diwas is observed every year on July 26 to commemorate India's historic victory over Pakistan in the Kargil War. This day is observed to commemorate the martyrs of the Kargil war.
