THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:473 old buses of KSRTC have been sold for scrap value. 418 buses were sold in the first phase and 55 units were sold in the second phase. Most of them were JNNURM buses. These are the buses that were not used for service during Covid crisis.

It was decided to sell 920 buses at scrap value, but the remaining ones have been set aside for 'Shop on wheels'. The old buses were sold through online auctions. Engine is not included in the sale.

Complaints were raised earlier stating that JNNURM buses were deliberately destroyed without sending them to service. Most of the buses sold are 8-10 year old.
