THRISSUR: It is suspected that Monkeypox might be the reason for the death of a youth in Thrissur. 22-year-old native of Chavakkad died this morning. The youth came to Kerala from UAE on July 21. He was admitted to a private hospital in Thrissur three days ago after he showed symptoms.

His samples were sent to Alappuzha Virology Lab for testing. The body was instructed to be cremated under strict conditions under the supervision of the police and the health department.

In India, Monkeypox has been confirmed to four persons. The first three monkeypox cases in the country were reported in Kerala. The disease was confirmed in Kollam, Kannur and Malappuram natives who came from abroad. Meanwhile, the results of genetic sequencing revealed that the monkeypox virus reported in Kerala does not have the ability to spread. The Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology under the Central Government stated that the variant belonging to the A-2 category has been found.
